Steve graduated with arts and law degrees from Griffith University. He came late to
the practice of law after a thirteen year career with the Australian Army.
Steve talks about:
Emigrating to Australia and why he considers Whyalla as the place he comes
from;
The importance of trying different areas in the legal profession before making
a decision about the sort of legal career you want to pursue;
How risk aversion in the provision of legal services to the vulnerable in the
community is affecting access to justice;
Why working in community legal centres is so fulfilling and the type of lawyers
attracted to working in the community sector;
Management committees and politics;
Dealing with challenging clients;
His love of baking; and
so much more.
Joining me to interview Steve is Bryony Walters a lawyer practising primarily in Social
Security Law.
My thanks to Steve and Bryony
