Susan Bryant has pursued a career as a precedent manager within a thriving legal

practice , the last 20 years with the same law firm Cooper Grace Ward and before

that a lengthy stint with Carter Newell.

Joining me to interview Susan is my friend and colleague Fiona Muirhead

Susan talks about:

 What a precedent manager does and how they add value to legal practices;

 Why you need someone with a law degree to take on that role;

 How specific words have particular meanings and that changing those words

to “plain English” may change the whole meaning of a contract etc;

 The difficulties of finding flexible working arrangements in the early 1990’s;

Brisbane lawyers;
